Tax Prep + Planning Options That Fit Your Practice

Good tax support isn’t about having more meetings. It’s about having the right conversations at the right time.

At Fortitude, tax preparation is the foundation. From there, you can choose how much planning support makes sense for you and your practice.

Our planning options are designed to give your good intentions some structure—so when you tell yourself you’re going to stay ahead of taxes, plan earlier, or avoid another April surprise, there’s already a process in place to help you follow through.

Taxes Shouldn’t Be a Surprise Expense

For many therapists, taxes are one of the largest expenses in the business—and one of the easiest to put off thinking about while you’re busy seeing clients and running your practice.

That’s why our planning isn’t scheduled randomly. Our fall planning is intentionally timed for when we have enough actual financial information to build a meaningful projection, while there’s still time left in the year to make changes when appropriate.

And when the best answer isn’t a tax strategy at all? Knowing what you’re likely to owe months ahead of April gives you something just as valuable: time to plan the cash flow.

Tax Support That Fits Your Practice
Without Paying for Things You Don’t Need

You shouldn’t have to buy bookkeeping, payroll, or a year-round subscription just to have a good tax professional.

Every therapy practice is different. Some clients need tax preparation and nothing more. Some want a well-timed forecast so they know what’s coming. Others benefit from more proactive planning throughout the year.

We help you choose the level of support that makes sense for your practice—not the package that sells you the most services.

1. Start with what you actually need. We learn about your practice, business structure, and where you could use support.

2. Choose the right level of tax support. Tax preparation, Forecast & Plan, or Proactive & Prepared—without requiring unrelated services.

3. Plan when planning adds value. If you’ve chosen planning support, we’ll use those touchpoints intentionally to look ahead, identify opportunities, and help you prepare.

4. File with confidence. We prepare your return and walk you through it so you understand what was filed and what comes next.

No Forced Bookkeeping. No Bloated Bundle.

Just the level of support that makes sense for you.

Who is Essential Compliance best for?

Essential Compliance is for therapists who want accurate, professional tax preparation without adding planning services they don’t currently need.

It’s a good fit when your tax situation is relatively stable, you’re comfortable managing your tax cash flow, and you primarily want an experienced professional to prepare the return correctly and help you understand what was filed.

What's included in tax preparation?

Tax preparation includes a secure organizer and document process, preparation of the tax returns included in your engagement, electronic filing, and a walkthrough of your completed return so you understand what was filed and what comes next.

Business and personal returns can be coordinated when both are part of your engagement, including Schedule C or S corporation returns as applicable.

What's the difference between Forecast & Plan and Proactive & Prepared?

Forecast & Plan is designed for therapists who want one well-timed look ahead during the year. We use your actual results to project where taxes are heading, identify meaningful year-end opportunities, and give you time to prepare for what you may owe.

Proactive & Prepared adds an earlier planning touchpoint, giving us more opportunity to make decisions, adjust as your practice changes, and revisit the plan later in the year with better information.

Why is the Forecast & Plan meeting scheduled in the fall?

It’s intentional. By fall, we generally have enough actual financial information from the year to create a meaningful tax projection—but there’s still time before year-end to make changes when appropriate.

It also gives you several months before tax time to prepare for the cash you’ll need, rather than finding out what you owe when the return is prepared.

Do I have to use Fortitude for bookkeeping?

No. You do not have to purchase bookkeeping services to work with Fortitude for tax preparation or planning.

You can maintain your own books, work with another bookkeeper, or use Fortitude bookkeeping services if they’re a good fit. We believe you should pay for the support your practice actually needs—not services added simply to create a larger package.

What if I'm not sure how much tax planning I need?

You don’t need to figure that out before talking with us. We’ll learn about your practice, tax situation, and what you’re trying to accomplish, then help you determine whether Essential Compliance, Forecast & Plan, or Proactive & Prepared makes the most sense.

And that answer can change as your practice changes. You don’t need to buy more planning than is useful to you right now.

Can you help me decide whether an S corporation makes sense?

Yes. An S corporation can be beneficial for some therapists, but it isn’t automatically the right move simply because your practice reaches a particular revenue level.

We can help you evaluate the potential tax benefit along with the additional payroll, filing, compliance, and administrative responsibilities so you can make an informed decision.

Do I have to sign up for a year-round subscription?

No. Fortitude does not require a year-round subscription simply to have us prepare your taxes.

Our service levels are designed to let you choose tax preparation alone or add planning support when it provides meaningful value to you and your practice.
